Sunday has finally arrived. It’s my favorite day of the week.
The weather has been so great the last couple days that I’ve wanted to spend every minute I can outside. I fear the cold weather will come back, it has every other time. Maybe this time it won’t though. A girl can hope.
I took Friday off from running and stuck to indoor activities. I did a couple 21 Day Fix workouts and a Bikram yoga class. In between I decided that it was as good a time as any to take on the dreaded task of organizing my workout clothes. I’ve been putting it off for awhile. I just keep tossing things in the closet. It took me over an hour and a half to sort through them all. Plus I pulled out another tote that had a bunch more tank tops and shorts stuffed inside. Let me just say for the record. I do not need any more workout clothes. Period. None. It took a whole 32 gallon tote for all of winter gear. Then I filled an entire cabinet with the summer gear. I’m pretty sure I could workout everyday twice a day for at least two months and not have to wash anything except sports bras and socks. I may have a hoarding problem. I have a plan…I will rotate my tops as I wash them that way I don’t wear the exact same tops every week just because they are the closest to reach.
Yesterday the sun finally came out. Blue skies for the first time since Tuesday. I was so excited.
I went to the 8am yoga class. Which apparently everyone and their mom decided was also a good idea. It meant I got to be up close and personal with my neighbors. Thankfully we all sweat and hey they say it’s good luck to touch your neighbor. I should buy some lottery tickets.
After a quick 21 Day Fix workout, the Dirty 30 I laced up my running shoes and hit the pavement. It was so pretty out. I loved seeing people out and children playing. I planned my route to take me buy a couple yard sales I had seen. I love them, you never know what you’re going to find. These two didn’t hold anything that caught my eye so I slowed down only slightly as I ran by. Of course the road I was on just kept going on and on. Finally it ended and just happened to be at a road I knew. I was having doubts about where this road would take me. I made my way back to my street and finished with a good 3.6 miles.
I got home in time to help my boyfriend set up the additional chain link fencing we bought. Prior to buying it we had to quickly herd the dogs into the fences in backyard. Hoping they didn’t see anything that caught their eye. Now we can let them into the yard directly from the side door. Much easier and less stressful.
Today I did yoga at 8am again. It feels so good to start my day off in the room. It just sucks to get up at the crack of dawn during the week to go to the 6am. I’ll stick to the evening classes.
After yoga I went for a 7 mile run. I actually mapped out a course and stuck to it. Pretty proud of myself. This rarely happens. I maintained a 9:26 throughout the whole run and aside from a little cottonmouth I felt good. I did have something annoying sticking into my big toe that hurt enough that about 5 miles in I stopped, sat down and took off my shoe and sock to investigate. I couldn’t see anything but I think the culprit was our pitbull’s hair. They are like little splinters when they get stuck in your flesh. I ended up flipping my sock inside out in attempt to continue on. I finished the run in an 1:06:16. In the future I will be using my fuel belt to ensure I don’t get dehydrated.
I found some beautiful blossoming trees along my run and I had to stop for pictures. They were too pretty to pass up!
I don’t have any races in the next couple weeks so it’s kind of nice to just run to run. I’m gradually increasing my long run since I have a 10 miler on May 3rd and a half at the end of May but I am using them as training runs all I preparation of my 24 hour race in July.
I have two more weeks left in my second cycle of the 21 Day Fix. I have now lost 10 pounds and feel so great. I have more energy and find myself sleeping better. I have decided that I will continue on and stop when I feel content. I will still weigh myself but I won’t put so much stock in the number on the scale. I love not counting calories, the containers take all the guess work out of meal planning. I did finally get tired of brown rice. It took four weeks. I made a huge batch of sweet potatoes and mashed them. It’s nice to have a different carbohydrate, with a little bit of agave, coconut oil and cinnamon they tasted delicious.
I still haven’t had the urge for junk food. My next transition will be to no longer eat the fruit on the bottom or sweetened Greek yogurts. I have been reading a lot about how much sugar is in them and now that I know how easy it is to make my own I see no reason not to try. I probably will not give up coffee creamer. The sugar free kind is gross and I figure since I only have one cup of coffee a day it won’t be my undoing.
Until next time!!
