Halfway to the weekend

I don’t know about everyone else, but I feel like this week is dragging. At a snail’s pace……….ugh.

Monday was a rest day.  I know I had kind of talked about doing the P90X3 starting in May and I really gave it a shot. I just find Tony Horton to be incredibly annoying. The way he rambles and the jokes. I just couldn’t do it. That’s not to say the workouts aren’t great, some of them I really like and will do occasionally, I just can’t do only his workouts every damn day for three months.

So I got on BeachBody.com and ordered 21 Day Fix Extreme.  I’m super excited about starting on Monday and have been stalking the FedEx site to see where it’s at. It’s funny that I made the decision to order it on the same day my mom got her very own 21 Day Fix in the mail. I’m so happy she has made the decision to get active. We texted back and forth Tuesday after she did her first workout. I told her not to feel too bad, I thought I was in decent shape and hurt for days after my first few workouts. It’s a very humbling experience. This afternoon on my way home from work we commiserated about how the simple task of sitting on the toilet is painful after the workout.  She did it again this morning and she figured out that the best remedy for the soreness is to keep moving. It’s tough to do, I remember trying to run three days into that first week and it felt like my legs had a mind of their own. Eventually the soreness went away, but I  was shocked at how much I hurt. Clearly I wasn’t as “in shape” as I had initially thought. Thankfully that is no longer the case.

So I’ve talked in the past about liking to get stuff in the mail, this has led to a lot of purchases on Groupon. They have so much awesome stuff! Some ends up being a waste but I can say that I have purchassed a winner this time! I bought the Sypder Grip the other night while trying to pull an all nighter in preparation for an overnight watch. I was a little skeptical but I figured for $22.99 it was worth the risk. I got it in the mail on Monday. I used it on my run Tuesday morning. It. Is. Amazing!!! I immediately went to Groupon to see if it was still available, too bad it wasn’t. The thing is perfect, it doesn’t bounce or chafe. My iPod fit perfectly and there are two holes for you to feed your earbuds through. I texted a bunch of running buddies and told them they all need one.

It was the best part of my run yesterday. Those small blisters I had on Sunday hurt a lot and I tried cushioning them with moleskin, but that didn’t really help.

I needed a run though, I had a Service Wide Exam yesterday and was testing for chief. I needed to burn off some of the nerves.  I managed close to 5 miles at an easy pace of 9:15. I followed that up with a P90X3 workout, CVX. This is the second time I have tried that workout and found it a little less intimidating this time around. I will add that I am sore today, not miserably sore, just enough to know I did something different.
My test went…..I can’t say went well since really who knows. I thought it was a little less depressing than the one I took last year, but I could be in denial. I’ll know for sure in a few weeks. Either way, it’s done and I can relax a little bit.

New Jersey has decided to bypass spring and dive right into summer. This is fine with me, the winter was rough and for time I will love the heat. My dogs did not last night. The puppy paced and panted last night so I was up a fair amount and finally caved and turned on the A/C. That made my alarm going off at 0530 suck a lot. I hit the snooze and slept a little longer. I did not want to run. I really wanted to skip everything. I got dressed though and had some coffee. I did speed work this morning. I normally would do it at the park with the track, but I just wasn’t feeling that. So I figured why not just do it on a normal running route. I mean I have a watch so I can see the distance. I finished my run with just a little walking.  My blisters were hurting a lot. I managed to in 4.2 miles and as soon as I was done I was glad that I dragged my butt out of bed and did.

I have decided to take the leap and become a Beachbody coach, I’m really excited and can’t wait to get started helping more people fall in love with a healthy lifestyle! I’ve already talked three people into purchasing 21 Day Fix. I think my passion and excitement about getting healthy and in shape will help keep people on track and will also prevent me from sliding backwards. I’m sure I will talk about this more as I learn more and get more comfortable.

Until next time!!
